Privacy Policy & COPPA Notice

Last Updated: May 28, 2026

Welcome to the Pedal Pals Adventure Hub. We are committed to providing a fun, engaging, and safe online environment for riders of all ages. Because our platform is used in school settings and by children, we take privacy and data security extremely seriously.

This policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information, with special emphasis on compliance with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

COPPA Compliance Notice (Under Age 13)

COPPA protects the online privacy of children under 13. Pedal Pals does not allow children under 13 to register themselves directly. A parent, guardian, or school representative (teacher/educator) must create the account and provide explicit consent before any personal information is collected.

1. What Information Do We Collect?

To save progress, badges, and characters, we collect the minimum necessary information:

  • Display Name: A nickname used for the rider's profile. We strongly advise users NOT to use their real first or last name as a display name.
  • Email & Password: Collected from the parent, guardian, or teacher to secure the account and facilitate password recovery.
  • Gameplay & Progress Data: Earned XP, unlocked badges, quiz scores, custom avatar choices, and safety-lab achievements.

2. How Do We Use the Information?

We use the collected information exclusively for:

  • Saving game state and customization (avatars, badges) so users can log in from different devices.
  • Allowing teachers to see quiz results and safety training progress for class evaluation.
  • Internal application improvements and security checks.

No Commercial Exploitation: We do NOT sell, lease, or share personal child data with third parties. We do NOT run behavior-based or targeted advertising.

3. School and Teacher Consent

For activities conducted in a school or educational setting, COPPA permits teachers and school administrators to consent to the collection of students' personal information on behalf of their parents, provided the information is used solely for educational purposes.

By creating accounts for students, teachers certify they have obtained necessary school-level authority and parent notices to allow students to use the Pedal Pals Adventure Hub.

4. Parental Rights

Parents and legal guardians have the right to control their child's data under COPPA:

  • You can review the personal information we have collected about your child.
  • You can request that we delete your child's account and all associated data.
  • You can refuse to permit further collection or use of your child's information.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected] with the account's registered email address and display name.

5. Security and Data Retention

All network connections are secured with industry-standard HTTPS encryption. We store user passwords using secure modern hashing algorithms.

We only retain account data as long as the account remains active. If an account is inactive for more than 24 months, it may be subject to deletion, including all associated progress.
